Driving to Work – Honoring a Hero – Chris Kyle

Today I was driving to work at CleanFuel USA and my day was interrupted by one of the most powerful displays of pride, honor and patriotism I have had the privilege to witness. People lined the overpasses of I35 to say goodbye and honor Chris Kyle. Every car on I35 stopped and pulled over….I have never seen anything like it. It was a testament to our American pride and honor for our military. I am proud to say I served in the US Army and am proud to stand for men like Chris Kyle.

KAS Solar Project Completed 60.4mw in Europe

We are proud to announce another successfully financed and commissioned utility scale project in Europe. This project is one of the results of our relationship with a very large energy infrastructure fund. In this instance we were fortunate to have paved the way with Business Development activity and our partner completed the work by providing the debt and other sponsor equity investors in the region. This is a 60.4mw project.

It is always interesting learning about new markets and green technologies that are thriving. One of them is the Autogas industry and particularly the Propane Autogas sector and CleanFuel USA….here are some interesting stats about the market…As a vehicle fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) – otherwise known as propane autogas – has some powerful positive characteristics.

It is relatively clean-burning
It is easy to store and transport
Has high energy content
Is widely available in many countries
Internal combustion engines – both diesel and gasoline – can be readily adapted to use autogas as a dual fuel, and converting an engine to run entirely on LPG is straightforward and not particularly costly.
The cost per gallon is significantly lower than gasoline or diesel in many countries and at least an initial existing infrastructure, it seems only a matter of time before the vehicle market for LPG takes off.

This morning I put our flag outside and it held very strong memories for me and i’m sure you too for this Patriot day. I have included a picture of the flag….It also has very special memories for me. My daughter and I found this flag in a pile of garbage while we were assisting in the restoration and clean-up of the aftermath of the Tornado that ripped through Joplin Mo. in 2011.

The person we were helping at the time was a grandmother that was living by herself. Her house was devastated, but her spirit to endure was strong. The flag was in a rubbish heap outside of her yard….it was going to be thrown away!!! It is worn, torn and faded, but it represents what we as Americans are all about…..persistence, endurance, community, honor and commitment.

As a 6 year US Army veteran, I honor all other veterans and all of our police and firefighters everywhere…Thank you.

We went to Honolulu with high hopes that this years Asian Pacific Renewable Energy Conference would net some great fruit in the area of Project Financing, after all, we were the ones organizing the Project Financing track for the event. What we came away with were 3 great early stage green prospects of which we are vetting and 1 that we really like.

Additionally, we were struck by the incredible proving ground that Hawaii is for the renewable industry and the assembly and testing of a confluence of different green energy solutions combined. Hawaii is a “perfect storm” for this because of it’s resources – wind, solar, water, bio-mass.geo-thermal it’s environment, it has every eco-system on the planet, and it is in a 1st world country with BIG needs for change from Oil to Green.

Second, the innovators/CEO’s of Cleantech companies we vetted reminded us of the still very strong pioneering spirit of the American entrepreneur – hands down, no one beats the ingenuity, attitude, creativity and drive of the these folks. My sincere thanks to them for keeping the renewable energy industry alive and thriving….carpe diem..

David Savage, Senior Business Development Manager

Mr. Savage is an Infigen Energy Senior Business Development Manager for wind and solar projects throughout the U.S. Prior to joining Infigen, he was a Senior Renewable Energy Developer with RES Americas beginning in 2007. While with RES, he developed 3300 megawatts of wind energy projects throughout the country’s midsection and he also developed 54 MW of solar PV projects in the southwest. Prior to RES Americas, Mr. Savage was the Program Manager for WindLogics, Inc. for three years, where he managed large wind integration studies for Independent System Operators and utilities throughout the U.S. He also managed the corporate integration when WindLogics was acquired by FPLE Energy (Nextera).

Mr. Savage was a commissioned officer in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for 20 years prior to his career in the wind energy industry. During his 20 years with NOAA, Mr. Savage gained extensive experience in meteorology, both as a manager and scientist. He received a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University and has had specialized management and Six Sigma training from NOAA and FPL Energy, respectively.

KAS Consulting will be hosting, moderating and screening Green Energy project financing candidates at the 2012 Pacific Asian Renewable Energy Summit in Honolulu Hawaii. KAS has partnered with Techconnect.org to organize and run the project finance portion of the summit.

Along with GSF Energy, KAS will be meeting and reviewing submissions from over 100 high quality submissions that were vetted by our Project Finance Connect review committee. Congratulations to this year’s Finalists who will be presenting their technologies in Honolulu, August 14th.

As of June 2012, KAS Consulting is pleased to announce its involvement in the closing of 2 solar projects which total 60 plus mw in size. The investments were part of a sale of an existing portfolio of muni solar projects in California and a 50mw project to be built in the Black Sea region.
